Updates on the Roblox Child Harm Lawsuits –August 2025

The Roblox lawsuits and Discord lawsuits are being filed rapidly at this point. Here’s the latest timeline of what’s happening with the Roblox cases and updates on the current lawsuits that have been filed.

August 21, 2025 – St. Louis Mom Sues Roblox After 13-Year-Old Daughter Groomed

A St. Louis mother has filed a lawsuit against Roblox Corporation after her 13-year-old daughter was groomed by a predator on the app and eventually sent what she thought was a peer, explicit photos.

The lawsuit alleges that Roblox markets itself as a safe place for kids, all while knowing that predators are “freely roaming the app, looking for their next target.”

Attorneys for the mom claim that the platform’s safety features fall far short of what’s needed to keep kids safe, and that Roblox failed to protect children because they knew that any news of their predator problem would likely hurt their stock price. See image below.

August 18, 2025 – Lawsuit Filed Against Roblox for Facilitating Harm of 10yo Girl

In the Northern District of California, another lawsuit has been filed against Roblox, this time from a Michigan mother on behalf of her 10-year-old daughter. The lawsuit accuses Roblox Corporation of allowing predators to operate on its platform in exchange for corporate growth.

The complaint explicitly states that Roblox has prioritized “profit and growth over child safety,” even though they have heard non-stop warnings about the predators on their platform and the horrendous “experiences” children are exposed to.

According to the mother, the young girl was approached by an adult who was posing as another child—something that seems to be coming up again and again with Roblox. The predator gained her trust, sent her graphic messages, and eventually sent her sexually explicit photos of himself. Then, he ultimately coerced her into sending explicit images of herself to him.

This lawsuit also claims that there is a wider pattern of children being groomed on the Roblox platform, then being pushed onto outside apps like Discord and text messaging, where moderation is weaker and things are more “private,” which allows the predators to continue their exploitation. Roblox does not permit direct image sharing, so predators often need to move things somewhere else to continue their abuse.

August 13, 2025 – 8-year-old Texas Boy Exploited on Roblox, Another Lawsuit Filed

A new Roblox lawsuit has been filed, this time in Texas, by the parents of an 8-year-old boy who was groomed and sexually exploited by a predator posing as a child.

The complaint says Roblox’s open chat, lack of age verification, lack of a parental consent system, and the ease with which users can create new accounts after being banned all made this abuse, and all the other child abuse on the app, possible.

In this lawsuit, the predator gained the boy’s trust, convinced him to share his phone number, and eventually coerced him into sending nude photos of himself. Remember, this was an 8-year-old boy. If you have any children in your life, especially boys who are literally still “little kids,” just imagine the amount of trauma he is experiencing now, and will continue to experience in the future.

August 11, 2025 – Lawsuit Filed Against Roblox in Georgia Superior Court Claiming Facilitation of Child Exploitation

Another major lawsuit was filed in Georgia that alleges Roblox’s design and lack of security features or safeguards have directly enabled predators to exploit and abuse minors.

The case filed in Georgia describes how a predator pretended to be a child, built trust, and then pressured the victim into sending explicit material that led to real-world child abuse.

The lawsuit claims that through a series of leaked documents and many legal issues, it has become clear that Roblox is putting its profits ahead of the safety of its users.

The problem for Roblox is that it is stuck between a rock and a hard brick of cash. If they announce they have a predator problem and roll out new safety measures to address it, parents will inadvertently learn that perhaps the cute little Roblox app is not so innocent.

So instead, they opted for the route in which they kept the problem hidden, kind of tried to fix some things here and there, all while collecting the profits and increased stock prices along the way.

August 1, 2025 – Indiana Family Sues Roblox After Daughter is Groomed and Assaulted

An Indiana family says their young daughter was groomed on Roblox and lured into a real-life meeting where she was assaulted by a predator.

The lawsuit claims that the now-arrested predator used Roblox’s chat features to gain her trust over time so that he could manipulate her into a dangerous meeting that resulted in him physically attacking and sexually assaulting her.

Despite marketing itself as family-friendly and using art that directly implies the game is safe for young children. It’s not. Let’s be real, Roblox mimics Lego characters, which are associated with being fun and harmless.

With the filing of this lawsuit, Roblox continues to face mounting allegations of grooming and exploitation of children.

July 23, 2025 – Roblox and Discord Sued for Rape of 11-year-old Girl

A lawsuit filed in a Florida federal court has accused Roblox and Discord of failing to protect an 11-year-old girl who was raped after being groomed on their platforms.

The lawsuit highlights Roblox’s weak age checks, ineffective parental controls, and massive amount of young users as major problems, including the fact that children at the age of 13 are treated as adults on the platform when it comes to restrictions.

Both companies declined to comment when asked by reporters, though Roblox repeated its standard line about safety investments and dedication to safety.

July 18, 2025 – Another Lawsuit Filed Against Roblox and Discord for Facilitating Child Exploitation

A case in California alleges an 11-year-old Florida girl was groomed and exploited through Roblox and Discord. The lawsuit argues that both companies designed their platforms in a way that made it easy for predators to reach children while giving parents a false sense of safety. Although they may not have created the apps for this reason, they definitely knew about the problem and failed to adequately address these issues to keep all their users safe.

The child was allegedly exposed to explicit “experiences” inside Roblox (which there are a lot of) and then further exploited when they were coerced into moving to Discord’s private chats.

The complaint claims that the harm to this little girl was preventable, and seeks compensation for their client’s damages and significant reforms to both platforms to increase child safety.

July 13, 2025 – New Lawsuit Alleges that “Roblox Failed to Protect Minors”

A new federal lawsuit in California alleges that Roblox fails to protect its young users. In the complaint, the attorneys tell a story in which the plaintiff, a 14-year-old girl, was groomed by an online predator and later lured into meeting up with her abuser in real life.

The young girl and the predator met on Roblox, but also used Discord to message back and forth. Discord was also named in the lawsuit.

The predator from Roblox and Discord then drove from another state, convinced her to meet at a fast-food restaurant, and eventually attempted to rape her while she fought him off. Law enforcement was able to intervene mid-attack and prevent any further physical harm. Of course, the mental harm is just beginning.

The suspect was arrested and remains in jail.

April 17, 2025 – New Jersey Sues Discord Due to Risks to Children, Mentions Roblox as a Safety Concern Too

New Jersey’s Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against Discord, calling it a “hunting ground” for predators. The state alleges Discord’s default settings allow strangers to message minors freely, exposing children to exploitation.

Roblox was also mentioned in the complaint as one of the platforms where kids are first contacted before being lured to Discord. The case shows how predators use interconnected digital ecosystems to find and groom children.

And again, this lawsuit shows that state AGs everywhere are worried about the dangers of Roblox and Discord.

April 16, 2025 – Florida AG Launches Roblox Investigation Over Child Safety Concerns

Florida’s Attorney General has launched an investigation into Roblox, issuing a subpoena for internal documents about its moderation, age verification, and marketing practices. The AG is seeking to get to the bottom of how much Roblox really knows about its “predator problem.”

The investigation is aimed at determining whether Roblox’s policies violate state consumer protection laws by exposing children to predators and inappropriate content without proper warnings or parental controls.

Roblox has said it will cooperate with the investigation. It also shows that even state AGs are getting worried about the real dangers these platforms pose to our communities.

April 14, 2025 – Child Abduction in California Tied to Roblox Interaction

A 10-year-old girl from Taft, California, was abducted after meeting a man on Roblox and continuing contact with him on Discord. Police found her the next day, 250 miles away from her home, inside the suspect’s car.

The man, 27-year-old Matthew Naval, now faces charges of kidnapping and sexual activity with a minor. He is being held on $1.35 million bail.

This case has definitely intensified the scrutiny on Roblox and its responsibility for the safety of children on its platform. Considering the fact that a child playing Roblox, which should be innocent or at least it’s marketed that way, turned into a kidnapping across state lines, really shows just how bad the predator problem on Roblox really is.
